The McConaghy Boats Zhuhai Facility in China has launched Adastra, a 42.5 metre Trimaran built atfor a Hong Kong client for long range ocean voyaging. She is designed by John Shuttleworth Design. Adastra Yacht Trimaran 3 is the result careful design, planning and discussion with the owners, to build a yacht that meets the needs of a very experienced couple, and to provide the level of comfort and style that would be expected in a yacht of this class and size. The superstructure is carbon fibre with Nomex honeycomb core, the hull is Glass/Kevlar foam sandwich and the interior is light weight oak cabinetry using honeycomb panels. To help reduce weight, virtually every aspect of the boat is custom built. This includes carbon fibre hatches, portlights, ladders and even hinges, which are all built specifically for the vessel. Adastra's 16 metre beam creates a spacious saloon area on the main deck which offers superb views through a panoramic window and accommodates a lounge area, dining table, and navigation station. A forward facing door through the saloon window gives easy access to a large sunbed on the foredeck. The aft deck has a sofa and bar area to port and a dining area to starboard, further aft of this there is space for a 4.9 metre tender and directly below is a garage which can store a 3.1 metre tender. Motor Yacht Adastra is a 42.5 metre unique superyacht built by McConaghy Boats in Zhu Hai, China with a launch date in 2011. Adastra Yacht Trimaran 3 exceptional and eye-catching design is a result of more than five years of cooperation between the Owner, the naval architects/exterior designer John Shuttleworth Design Ltd, interior designed Jepson Designs and the shipyard. ADASTRA yacht is a beautiful trimaran yacht with excellent sea keeping qualities, luxurious accommodation complimented by low fuel consumption. The superstructure of Adastra is carbon fibre with Nomex honeycomb core, whereas the hull is Glass/Kevlar foam sandwich. The cabinetry in the interior is light weight oak using honeycomb panels. Virtually every aspect of the boat is custom built, including the carbon fibre hatches, portlights, ladders and even hinges, which are all built specifically for the vessel. A SiMON2 integrated ship monitoring system monitors fuel, security, pump sensors, electrical, lights, etc. Motor Yacht Adastra has a fully automated fuel management system, including an Alfa Laval system for cleaning the fuel. Superyacht Adastra also features a unique anchoring system with three anchors driven by carbon fibre winches run by hydraulics. The primary is a custom 130kg Bruce style anchor that deploys out of the startboard wing. The second anchor of 80 kg deploys out of the bow with a carbon fibre arm. A 60 kg third anchor deploys out of the port wing and is used as a stern anchor. John Shuttleworth designed Yacht ADASTRA offers accommodation to 9 guests in total and has a crew of 5-6 professionals. She has a 4.9 metre tender stored on the aft deck and a 3.1 m tender stored in the garage. Adastra motoryacht is powered by one main Caterpillar C18 1150ho @2300 rpm engine and twin Yanmar 110hp @ 3200 rpm outrigger engines. Her maximum speed is 22.5 knots and she has a 4000 nautical miles range at a lower speed of 17 knots.
