Sailing Ship. Make plans to be on the Port Aransas waterfront next Thursday morning, May 3, and again Sunday evening, Mary 6. On Thursday, you'll see the A.R.C. Gloria, the Colombian Tall Ship, sail in through the jetties at about 9 a.m. On Sunday, channel watchers can bid the ship farewell as she sails out through the jetties at about 7:30 p.m. The Colombian Naval Academy Tall Ship School will dock at the Solomon Ortiz Center in Corpus Christi where it will be open to the public for tours. Availability is limited to the number of patrons the ship can accommodate. A family pass for two adults and up to four children sells for $12 online and $15 at the gate. Gloria was built in 1966, and she was named after Mrs. Gloria Zawadsky de Revéiz, wife of former Colombian Minister of Defense General Revéiz Pizarro. The ship is 249 feet long, with a draft of 16 feet, 4 inches, and a rig length of 131 feet.
